Who we are and what we do

Who we are and what we do

Hi guys, we are a group of approximately 11 students of different classes and two teachers from the Neues-Gymnasium-Bochum, that meets every Friday afternoon to discuss European politics. We also take part in events such as this year´s Regional Selection Conference of EYP Germany in Düren, which is close to Aachen. Last Friday we had our first session for the CitizenRights Project. It was great fun and made all of us aware of how differently European citizens profit from the very same rights. To illustrate this we played a game in which all of us were dedicated to a different role that resembles certain groups of our society (e.g. minijobber) and in this role we had to answer questions, such as “Are you able to get a bank loan?”, by stepping one step forward for yes and stay where we are for no or don´t know. Of course, this was only the introduction part and for this week we´ve been seperated in small groups (3-5) dealing with three different groups of society (refugees, LGBTQIs, minijobber) in order to find out by interviewing them in how far our fundamental citizen rights of the charter of the EU are realized in our society and how those groups experience them. Tomorrow we are going to present our findings and apart from that, we will start to visualize them, e.g. in a comic. We are sure that this will be really interesting and challenging and are looking forward hearing from your projects as well.:) Have a diverse and informative time, Your NGB group
